What is your story?

I was raised on a family farm that raises corn, soybeans, alfalfa, wheat, Holstein steers for fat cattle, pigs, and poultry. Dad has farmed all his life and Mom teaches swimming lessons and bakes and decorates cakes. I have two older brothers who work on the farm and partner in the operation with Dad. My passion for the farm and agriculture started with my roots and sprouted into agriculture classes and owning my own livestock. I added goats to our farm as an eighth grader and have expanded the meat goat aspect of the farm since. I am blessed to have grown up on a farm, be able to grow my faith, have great friends, and be part of a supportive family.

What is your business?

Scapegoat Sales aims to provide quality meat goats to Nebraska residents. Goat meat, or chevon, is just another healthy option to add to our plates. In the last seven years, I've added meat goats to our family farm, accompanying the Holstein steers raised for fat cattle, pigs, chickens, corn, soybeans, wheat, and alfalfa production already established. In the future, I would like to raise dairy goats as well and produce milk, cheese, yogurt, and ice cream. Additionally, I enjoy teaching swimming lessons and would like to continue to do so in the future and teach agricultural sciences as well.

Who is your entrepreneurial inspiration OR biggest hero?

My two older brothers are my entrepreneurial inspiration. They are constantly thinking of new ways to make a task more efficient and add innovation to our farm. Despite their many successes, they remain humble and always want to learn more. Without their support (and teasing), I would not be as motivated (and tough) as I am today. I don't tell them nearly enough, but I owe them abundant amounts of thanks.

If your story were made into a movie, what actor/actress would portray you and why?

Sandra Bullock - she portrays the perfect amount of classy and sassy. While being respectful, she is able to efficiently manuever through life and accomplish her goals and aspirations.

What advice would you give to a student starting their entrepreneurial journey?

Don't let anyone tell you that you can't. If you let them tell you, prove them wrong.
