Haley's Story
I have been raised in an entrepreneurial atmosphere through several endeavors, from creating handmade bracelets on the playground to constructing a corn maze at my family's pumpkin patch. My parents raised us five children to be hard workers and stand up for what we believe in. All seven of us are long-distance runners and I have learned throughout my years that this passion has enabled me to set goals that build integrity for my dreams and aspirations.
I fuel my energy through my faith, creativity, and trying new things. I aspire to make a difference around the world and ultimately serve the Lord. My top five strengths include: learner, achiever, responsibility, ideation and includer.
Q & A WITH HALEY
Who is your biggest hero?
The most inspiring hero in my life is Grandpa Jim. Throughout my college experience, my grandpa has been by my side. He has pushed me to pursue my passion in the agriculture industry and has taught me the value of networking. The man is a hero that has set a prime example of a true entrepreneur. He partnered with his brother and produced a Black Angus herd with reputable blood lines, he was a school principal, he implemented the athletic lifting program at UNL, and he was Mr. Midwest (body building). Grandpa Jim has not let the years hold him back. He currently owns his own duplex and rents to college-aged students, owns Warren Buffet stock, and is a Historical Member of the American Angus Association. Despite these amazing achievements, he is very humble. I aspire to be like him; there are not enough Grandpa Jim's in this world.
What advice would you give to a student starting their entrepreneurial journey?
Take opportunities when you see them, but be smart. The day that you find yourself overwhelmed with worldly commitments is the day that you are in businesses for the wrong reasons. Do not be afraid to step out of your comfort zone, a true entrepreneur will do whatever it takes to be heard. Network, network, network. It's up to you to decide what your purpose is, don't take this lightly. Strive for excellence and ALWAYS over-deliver.
